Date // Sunday 17th March 2013
Venue // Les Quennevais Sports Centre
Earsay had a fantastic time at this year's Swimarathon at Les Quennevais Pool on Sunday 17th March. We had two teams of 8 swimmers, one adults and one childrens team, and it was great to see so many of our members/supporters taking their time to represent Earsay for this brilliant cause. Everyone in their Earsay t-shirts also looked really nice for the photos.
After an hour of strong swimming (and supportive coaching from Viv & Mabel!) a total of 99 laps had been swum by our two teams - everyone really did put in a great effort. All the children swam well - a special mention goes to Hobbes Watts who, despite being worried that he would need someone else to complete his laps, actually ended up swimming for both teams (very ably). And thank you to all our supporters on the balcony for cheering them on.
Earsay's sponsorship totalled £750 - thank you to everyone who helped us raise this (and thanks Kevin for collecting). Swimarathon's final total for the 5 days was £110,000 (still expected to increase) which is a superb achievement for Jersey to be very proud of! To celebrate the Lions Club of Jersey golden anniversary 50 charities were selected to receive 50% of the Swimarathon's proceeds, and Earsay were very grateful to be chosen as one of the beneficiaries.
WELL DONE EVERYONE - same time, same place next year?!
